A well-established, financially stable, and growing company in Greenwich, South London is seeking a Finance Officer (Bookkeeper) to oversee day-to-day finance activities and ensure accurate transaction recording. This permanent position reports directly to the Head of Finance and offers a hands-on role with ownership over the full ledger.
This role could suit two types of candidates: those with solid bookkeeping experience seeking a stable, well-run business to settle into long term, or instead, someone recently AAT-qualified who’s ready to grow and develop in a role with real visibility and responsibility from day one.
You’ll be joining a small, collaborative team in an SME environment, with the chance to build confidence across all core finance functions and contribute directly to how the finance function runs.
What you’ll be doing:
Managing bookkeeping processes across sales and purchase ledgers
Posting and reconciling transactions in SAGE 200 and preparing supplier payments
Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
Maintaining aged creditor and debtor reports with accuracy
Completing full balance sheet reconciliations and supporting VAT returns
Keeping records audit-ready and compliant with internal controls
What you’ll need:
AAT qualified (Level 3 or above), either newly qualified or with hands-on experience
Background as a Finance Officer, Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant or similar in an SME environment
Experience of SAGE 200 and solid Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, formulas)
Understanding of VAT, PAYE and standard bookkeeping processes
Methodical, detail-focused, and organised approach to financial data
Good communicator with a discreet, professional manner
